Biggest career highlights so far

English Championships Playoff final for Bristol City at Wembley.

Playing for the national team.

Winning the Johnny Warren Medal.

Biggest disappointment

Missing out on the 2004 Olyroos squad for the Athens Olympics. I really felt hard done by.

Losing the Championship playoff final with Bristol City at Wembley.

Favourite player(s) Lionel Messi
Biggest influence on career
My wife. We've been together since I was 13 and has always been there to support me.

Favourite other club(s) Barcelona
Rising star Seb Ryall
Most memorable game(s) Scoring the winning goal in the last minute for Newcastle Jets against Adelaide United a few years back just after we had conceded a penalty. They missed the penalty and we went up the other end and scored, so instead of losing 2-1 we won 2-1. Jade North saved a certain goal to give them the penalty, taking one for the team and getting sent off.

Most embarassing moment Too many to tell!
Best player you've played alongside Troy Halpin.
Best player you've played against Lionel Messi against Argentina in Melbourne.
Any playing regrets? Not working on my right foot as much as I should have as a youngster and perhaps leaving France earlier than I should have.
Most influential coach? I've been lucky to have had many good coaches, but the two most influential are my coach at Troyes, Alain Perrin and Vitezslav Lavicka, my current coach at Sydney FC. And I'm not just saying that because he's my current coach, he is as professional as you can get. He has got the club running perfectly, and his players really want to play for him.Not just a great coach, but a thorough gentleman too.
Todays players - athletes or footballers? It's bordering on athletics unfortunately (in my opinion). I think we should be trying to make an athlete out of a footballer, not the other way around. But these days as there are so many good footballers around it is athleticism that gives players the edge in many instances.
Best thing about being a professional footballer?

Getting up in the morning to do what you love doing.

Having more time to spend with my wife and children compared to a "normal" job.

And the worst?

Being away from the family when playing away from home.

Pim Verbeek - Your thoughts?

A very nice guy. I have nothing against him for leaving me out of the final World Cup squad, as it was a great squad which made it hard to break into. But I do feel he got it wrong against Germany.

If you weren't a professional footballer what would you be?

An indoor soccer player if there was enough money in it.

Advice to youngsters Hard work pays off. Work ethic is very important. Those little extras make a big difference. Have seen many young talented players fall by the wayside just because they didn't work hard enough.
Who will Sydney FC meet in the A-League Grand Final? I don't really care who we play - as long as we get there!
Which Adelaide United player poses the greatest threat this week?
Leckie. From what I've seen, he's been impressive. Hopefully he has an off day against us.
Sydney FC player to look out for this season? Brosque and Bridge are a great strike duo. Seb Ryall will go a long way - even though I give him a hard time at training!
Funniest player at your club? Liam Reddy.
Person(s) you would most like to meet (dead or alive) God.
Favourite food Seafood and pasta.
Favourite hangout At Petersham Portuguese Chicken with my mates.
Hobbies Love fishing when I can and spending time with the kids.
Favourite band / singer / song Used to like Tupac.
Favourite movie

The Shawshank Redemption.

Blood In Blood Out.

Favourite other sport(s) Indoor soccer
If you had a racehorse, what would you name it? I have no idea!
How would you spend your last $20? Definately on the kids.
